Focus on Asian Languages
Asia House is passionate about the role that languages play in understanding cultures, developing opportunities, analysing policy and exploring business connections.
We believe the UK’s education policy needs to match the country’s trade agenda and the needs of employers, and that this creates a compelling rationale for the wider teaching of Asian languages.
• According to research published by Leeds University and UKTI, between 2012 and 2014 China will be our no. 1 trading partner and India no.3.
• In a 2010 CBI survey UK employers mentioned Mandarin and Cantonese second only to French as language skills they require in future employees
• According to a report from the British Council and British Chamber of Commerce, employers would like to see greater ‘international fluency’
Join us and our partners to highlight the cultural and economic value of learning an Asian language.
