With continued reforms and firming recovery of major industrial economies, Myanmar’s economic growth is expected to grow again after a slowdown last year, says the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in its Asian Development Outlook.

With stronger global commodity prices and demand from trading partners, Myanmar’s economy is likely to recover in 2017 at around 7.7 per cent, rising to 8.0 per cent in 2018.

Potential risks to economic growth and stability could come from external shocks such as global economic and financial instabilities and weaker economic performance of Myanmar’s major trading partners and investors.

On 28 April, Bambang Susantono, Vice President of the ADB, will speak at Asia House.
