You will explore Mughal decoration through the ‘Shamsa’ (a term derived from ‘Shams’, the Arabic word for sun). The Shamsa, sometimes known as the ‘Little Sun’, is a roundel or medallion motif that can be found on a variety of mediums, including manuscripts, jewellery and textiles. Using traditional techniques, you will paint a floral-inspired Shamsa using colour on paper.
