Asia House Brexit Series: Pascal Lamy on the future of EU-UK relations

This private briefing will be held at the Royal Institute of British Architects. The address is 66 Portland Pl, London, W1B 1AD.

Pascal Lamy, former Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and former European Trade Commissioner, will share his insights on the future of EU-UK relations.

Mr Lamy was Chief of Staff for the former President of the European Commission, Jacques Delors, from 1985 to 1994. He went on to join Credit Lyonnais (LCL) as CEO until 1999 before returning to Brussels as European Trade Commissioner until 2004. He served two terms as Director-General of the WTO from 2005 to 2013.

Mr Lamy has repeatedly said that the Brexit negotiations will take a long time and that the UK economy will face a number of challenges in the process of leaving the EU. At this briefing, he will shed light on EU-UK relations during both the process of leaving, and post-leaving. Mr Lamy spoke to BBC Newsnight from Davos on 18 January about the kind of deal the UK might reach with the EU, how long it will take to negotiate, the need for an interim deal and the potential scenario if no deal is reached. You can watch it here.

Attendance at this event is for Asia House corporate members only.
