Embracing business opportunities in London through China’s Belt & Road Initiative

ABP is creating London’s third financial and business district. The Royal Albert Dock project will be unique – it will be the headquarters of Chinese and other Asian companies enabling them to reach new markets across Europe. It will also be the centre for European companies looking to trade with them.

The £1.7 billion investment to create the Asian Business District will create more than 30,000 jobs and will generate £6 billion for the London economy. It will be a platform for those companies to thrive and prosper and will be the economic engine powering the economic growth of the Royal Docks.

The groundbreaking ceremony at the Royal Albert Dock (DLR Royal Albert Dock) will be held on Wednesday 28 June and will be followed by a half-day conference ‘Embracing Business Opportunities through China’s Belt & Road Initiative’. ABP and Asia House cordially invite you to attend this conference. As a truly global financial centre, London is the ideal destination to raise capital, finance projects – and be part of the China-Belt & Road initiative. However, the UK’s decision to leave the European Union has been interpreted as withdraw from globalisation.

The Belt & Road Initiative aims to connect more than 60 countries to promote open trade and globalisation. How can London and the UK, home to more Chinese investments than any other European country, ensure that with its high concentration of financial services and being a hub for regional and global businesses, can continue play a crucial role to turn this vision into reality? This panel will explore and provide insights on how China and the UK can drive globalisation in a world of increasing protectionism.
