Utopias Exhibition

Utopias Exhibition

Private View

17 May 2012 to 02 Jun 2012

09:00-18:00

Utopias is a showcase of the personal reflection and dialogue between two artists who participated in Singapore's Artist-in-Residence Exchange (AiRx) programme.

Singaporean artist Michael Lee created a series of miniatures in the form of digital prints and etchings. These pieces pay homage to the utopian visions in creating iconic architecture; conversely to imagine a world following the extinction of the human race.

British artist Bob Matthews researched on Singapore as a Garden City. Singapore's ecology and landscape provided an alternative sense of aesthetics and environment for Matthews as he explored the relationship between atap, rain and glam trees, and urbanised Singapore.

The two artists also jointly created a series that captured small-scale personal utopias during their residency in London and Singapore.
