The Asia House Board of Trustees is pleased to honour Ms Lubna Olayan with the 2012 Asian Business Leaders Award.
The award highlights the links between economic success, professional excellence accompanied by moral leadership and service to society. Ms Olayan was selected to receive this year's award based upon her outstanding contribution as a business leader.
Each year, Asia House celebrates the enormous social impact of commercial enterprise which, at its best, promotes values of leadership and service that can be felt far beyond the boardroom. Tremendous opportunities for social change are created by business leaders through these shared values. By recognising individuals who embody ideal, we seek to encourage widespread recognition and adoption of these values among the global business community.
Previous honourees include Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint, UK Minister of State for Trade & Investment and former Group Chairman HSBC Holdings, Vikram Singh Mehta, Chairman of Shell India, Jack Ma, Chairman and Founder of Alibaba.com and Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Group.
The award will be presented during the annual Asia House gala evening on Monday 22 October in Westminster.
Lubna S. Olayan is the Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chairperson of Olayan Financing Company (OFC),the holding entity for The Olayan Group's operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. Ms. Olayan is a member of the Board of Olayan Investment Company Establishment (OICE), the parent company of The Olayan Group. She is a member of the Board of Directors at Saudi Hollandi Bank and Schlumberger; and sits on the International Advisory Boards of Rolls-Royce; AkBank; and the National Bank of Kuwait. Ms Olayan also sits on a number of not-for profit Boards, including: INSEAD; Cornell University; King Abdullah University of Science and Technology; Asia Business Council; and Al Fanar, an entity that supports grass roots organisations in the Arab World.
