Come to Asia House for an exclusive snapshot of a new opera for families and young audiences, The Firework-Maker's Daughter, based on Philip Pullman's fairytale.
Drawing inspiration from the Far Eastern setting of the book, the show will combine vivid storytelling, puppetry, projection and physical theatre.
The production is brought to life by award-winning composer David Bruce; poet and dramatist Glyn Maxwell and director John Fulljames.
This event will feature live music from the opera and members of the creative team will talk about their inspiration and the process of designing an opera for children. Steve Tiplady and Sally Todd, from puppet company Indefinite Articles, will demonstrate how they will create the magical effects of the story on stage.
Suitable for all ages - especially the young and young-at-heart!
'Two of the toughest nuts - children's theatre and contemporary opera - had just been well and truly cracked.' The Guardian
