The Asia House Fair had a great selection of  beautifully-crafted objects from South Asia such as papier-mâché ball box sets as well as a hand-carved houseboat that also serves as a lamp and a dollhouse!

This is a unique hand-crafted houseboat lamp that represents the floating houseboats of Kashmir. It took more than two months labour to create this work of art.

These hand-painted eggs and ornaments look illuminated because of the shiny varnish finish. Papier-mâché has a long and rich tradition in Kashmir and usually has nature-oriented images of flower, fruit and birds in vibrant hues.

Ravana, in Hindu mythology, is the 10-headed demon king and one of the characters in the Hindu epic, the Ramayana. This exquisitely carved ornament from Varanasi, made from one piece of wood, shows him in all his fierce splendour.
