UAE Ministry of Economy announces official support for Asia House conference in Dubai

    Published On: 17 April 2018

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Economy has announced its official support for Asia House’s major conference, ‘The New Global Trade Order’ taking place in Dubai on Sunday 22 April.

Held in partnership with DMCC, the trade dialogue is bringing government ministers, senior business leaders and officials from the World Trade Organization together to debate and discuss the dramatic shifts in the global trading landscape, and how these will affect the Middle East in particular.

“Some of the world’s leading thinkers on global trade and investment will descend on Dubai to take part in this conference,” His Excellency Abdulla Al Saleh, Undersecretary for Foreign Trade at the UAE Ministry of Economy, said today.

“The objective is clear; discuss, debate and explore the issues that will help business leaders and policymakers better understand – and capitalise on – the new global trade order.

“As such, announcing our support at UAE Ministry of Economy for this signature event made perfect strategic sense. We look forward to contributing to this important dialogue, and working with international partners to drive Dubai’s economic growth agenda.”

His Excellency Abdulla Al Saleh will join a long list of distinguished speakers at the event which will be followed by a series of private strategic meetings.

The New Global Trade Order conference, sponsored by HSBC, will explore a range of issues that are driving change in the trading landscape, including new policy directions, China’s Belt and Road Initiative and the influence of digitalisation. It is part of the Asia House Middle East Programme, which aims to drive European and Asian engagement with the region.

Lord Green, Chairman of Asia House, said: “The rise of Asia is of major importance to the Middle East, which has seen rapid trade growth with emerging Asian economies.  Asia House is therefore delighted to be bringing this important trade dialogue to the region, and to Dubai in particular – a city that is already of vital importance to global trade and one which is facing tremendous opportunities to capitalise on Asia’s economic success.”

The New Global Trade Order takes place in Dubai on 22 April.
