ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting gets underway in Bangkok

29/07/19

The 52nd ASEAN Ministers’ Meeting begins in Bangkok today and is set to cover a range of issues including connectivity, economic integration and the bloc’s relationship with China.

Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai will chair the meeting, which the Bangkok Post reports will include ministers from around the world, including the US and Russia.

While security issues, such as the ongoing tensions in the South China Sea, are likely to be high on the agenda – as reported by the Jakarta Post – the talks will include economic affairs, including the push for greater ASEAN integration – an issue which Asia House Advisory monitors closely.

The Foreign Ministers’ Meetings will run until 3 August.
