Asia House Brexit Series: H.E. Mr. Koji Tsuruoka, Japanese Ambassador to the UK

The Japanese Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Koji Tsuruoka, will brief Corporate Members on 7 March as part of the Asia House Brexit Series.

Japan is the UK’s largest source of investment from Asia, with much of this investment focused on trade with the EU. Ambassador Tsuruoka will discuss a view from Japan on Brexit in relation to Japan-UK trade and investment, with a particular focus on the opportunities arising from the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

Japan was instrumental in salvaging the CPTPP after the US withdrew from the original TPP in January 2017, and the UK has made no secret of its intentions to seek membership when it leaves the European Union.

In January, the UK Department for International Trade also announced plans to have a Free Trade Agreement in place with Japan by December next year – an ambitious aim. The Ambassador will offer his perspective on these developments across Japan-UK trade.

This lunchtime briefing is held exclusively for Asia House Corporate Members. For more information, please contact aini.abdullah@asiahouse.co.uk
