    Published On: 28 September 2018

Matthew Cheung, the Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, gave a briefing to Asia House Corporate Members on the proactive strategy the city is taking to encourage innovative entrepreneurship.

Hong Kong is pursuing an ambitious agenda to position itself in the global digital ecosystem, including the development of the Greater Bay Area into the ‘Silicon Valley of China.’

In his opening remarks, the Chief Secretary outlined Hong Kong’s comparative advantages in achieving these aims, in particular its institutional strengths, achieved through the rule of law, transparency and education – all of which have facilitated growth and success for Hong Kong. They have also provided a foundation for the government’s promotion of innovation and technology.

Chaired by Michael Lawrence, the Chief Executive of Asia House, the briefing also covered the challenges faced by Hong Kong, including the impact of the US-China trade war.
