Leading authority on Chinese economy to join Asia House conference in Singapore

    Published On: 2 August 2018

With China and the US clashing over trade practices, intellectual property rights and their respective global leadership roles, Asia House is welcoming one of China’s most influential commentators on the Chinese economy to speak at its major conference in Singapore.

Dr Xiang Bing is the Founding Dean and Professor of China Business and Globalisation at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) and a thought-leader in the reform of state-owned enterprises, innovation and the role of the private sector in China. His writings on these subjects, and on the global implications of China’s transformation, are considered among the most influential in China.

Dr Xiang will speak at the Asia House trade dialogue, Asia Trade in the New Global Order, taking place in Singapore on 22 November.

The conference, which will bring together leading political and business figures, will explore the key themes driving change in the trade landscape. Sessions will be held on trade policy, new technologies and the Belt and Road Initiative.

The conference takes place as the US and China engage in an escalating trade war, driven in part by tensions over China’s willingness to open up its economy and commit fully to free trade, open market economics and globalisation.

As a leading expert on these key issues, Dr Xiang has shared insights at events across the globe, including the World Economic Forum, the Bo’ao Forum, and the APEC Global Innovator Conference. He will bring a unique persepective and expert knowledge of the Chinese market to the important Asia House dialogue.

Prior to founding CKGSB, Dr Xiang held several academic posts around the world and with many leading companies to offer consulting and training in China and globally, including China Mobile, China Telecom, Huawei Technologies, TCL, IBM, GE, Siemens, Goldman Sachs, Lenovo, and Bank of China.
