Asia House hosts Oman LNG delegation to explore sustainability and energy trends

Asia House welcomed a delegation from Oman LNG – a leading Omani producer and exporter of liquified natural gas (LNG) – to discuss sustainability and key energy sector trends with senior industry figures.

Thought leaders from Arup, the Centre for Climate Finance & Investment, ESG Book, HSBC, Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, Standard Chartered, Vitol, and WTW met with the delegation on 7 June to discuss a range of issues across the energy space.

The London-based think tank convened two roundtable discussions for the delegation exploring the role of LNG in the global energy mix and the international transition to low carbon economies.

The sessions covered a range of issues, including the sustainable finance gap and solutions to help close it; the need to de-risk sustainable investments and develop better ESG data and standards; and the technologies that will drive the energy transition.

The discussions also covered broader sustainability targets and climate engagement at the international policy level; the impact of geopolitical issues on countries’ energy transitions; and how oil and gas companies are approaching the shift to renewables.

Freddie Neve, Middle East Associate at Asia House, said: “As a leading think tank driving engagement between Asia, the Middle East and Europe, we were pleased to convene these sessions for Oman LNG as they seek to engage with industry figures and develop their international strategy.

“The energy transition and its implications for business are issues we monitor closely at Asia House, and this was a key opportunity to explore these important topics with our corporate network.”

Asia House regularly convenes leading figures at the centre of global trade, investment and policy for high-level discussions that make an impact. For more information, please contact Jonathan Smith: jonathan.smith@asiahouse.co.uk
