    Published On: 25 November 2020

Asia House Corporate Members received a briefing on the UK’s Asia strategy today (25 November) by Nigel Adams, Minister for Asia at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

Highlighting the importance of the Asia-Pacific to the UK, the Minister outlined British aims in the region as it seeks to build new trade ties post-Brexit.

Asia House Corporate Members joined the discussion from around the world, with the Minister taking a range of questions on UK engagement with Asia.

The Minister was asked about the UK’s accession to CPTPP and the prospect of China joining the trade agreement, as well as the opportunities for British businesses in ASEAN markets, such as Indonesia and Malaysia. Relations with India and China were also raised, as was the potential impact of a Biden administration on regional geopolitics.

The off-the-record briefing was chaired by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence, and provided Asia House Corporate Members with the latest insights on UK policy in Asia.
