Perry Warjiyo shares assessment of Indonesia’s economic outlook

    Published On: 9 November 2022

Indonesia’s economic outlook and its budget plans for 2023 were discussed during an Asia House briefing with Perry Warjiyo, Governor of Bank Indonesia.

Speaking with Asia House Corporate Members, the central bank chief shared his assessment on Indonesia’s economic trajectory, including inflation, growth prospects, and broader headwinds in the global economy.

The briefing, convened just weeks before Indonesia hosts the G20 in Bali, gave Corporate Members a unique opportunity to engage with the Governor, with a range of questions coming from around the table.

Governor Warjiyo was asked about interest rates in Indonesia; the impact of the strong US dollar on the rupiah; and the foreign exchange market. Digitalisation across Indonesia’s banking, finance and insurance industries was also discussed in the off-the-record briefing, chaired by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence.

Held at the think tank’s London headquarters, the briefing provided Corporate Members with fresh insights on Southeast Asia’s biggest economy.
