Yoshitaka Shindo, Japan’s Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy, provided Asia House Corporate Members with the latest updates on Japan’s economic reforms and international trade relations at an off-the-record briefing on Tuesday 30 April.
Minister Shindo shared his insights into the expected growth of Japan’s economy, its role in the CPTPP, and domestic social challenges. Government initiatives aimed at expanding Japan’s workforce, increasing investments, fostering startups and boosting economic productivity through new technologies and innovation, were also discussed at the briefing.
Asia House Corporate Members asked Minister Shindo for his views on a wide range of topics, including the Japanese government’s perspective on AI security, international partnerships to support health resilience, potential Japan-UK cooperation in fishery, and the country’s move towards net zero.
