UAE Undersecretary for Foreign Trade to speak at Asia House conference in Dubai

    Published On: 28 February 2018

The Undersecretary for Foreign Trade at the United Arab Emirates Economy Ministry will be speaking at a major Asia House conference in Dubai this April.

His Excellency Abdulla Al Saleh will give a keynote speech at The New Global Trade Order conference, held in partnership with DMCC, on 22 April.

Bringing together leading figures in trade and investment, the conference will provide insights and analysis to help business leaders and policymakers better understand – and capitalise on – the new global trade order.

His Excellency was appointed Undersecretary for Foreign Trade and Industry in 2013, before focusing his brief to Foreign Trade in 2017. Among his responsibilities are driving closer cooperation and deepening economic ties between the UAE and its partners, and increasing trade and investment flows. He is the head of UAE Free Trade negotiations team, in which he has worked closely with China and India on developing trade and investment links. In an interview with Reuters in 2017, he said there are “huge opportunities” in China and India but, also in Singapore and Indonesia.

Earlier in his career, Al Saleh was a diplomat in UAE Embassies in the United States and France. He holds an MSc in International Politics from the American University in DC and a Bachelors degree of Political Sciences from the UAE University.

Focusing on the emerging trends in international trade and the role of the Middle East in the global economy, The New Global Trade Order will include discussions on the future of trade, the Belt and Road Initiative, and connectivity.

The conference is part of the Asia House Middle East Programme – a series of private briefings, public events and research activity aimed at exploring the Middle East’s role in the global economy and its relationships with Asia and the West.
