    UKTI strategy in Asia discussed at private briefing

    The Chief Executive of UKTI Dr Catherine Raines joined Asia House corporate members for a private briefing and roundtable discussion this morning.

    Topics discussed at the briefing included: the restructuring and new strategy of UKTI; markets and sectors that UKTI sees the greatest potential in now and in the future; impediments to UK businesses exporting overseas and how they can be overcome; UKTI’s relationship with universities and management consulting firms; opportunities from the Belt and Road initiative; inward investment to the UK; and UK work permits for skilled Asian staff.

    Corporate members represented at the table included KPMG, HSBC, Arup, Nikkei, Prudential, Aggreko, Jardines, Barclays, BAE Systems, ABP London, Rio Tinto, Diageo and PwC.
