Lord Price has resigned as one of the three junior Ministers for the UK Department of International Trade under Secretary of State Liam Fox.

Greg Hands, previous Minister of State for Trade and Investment, now takes on Lord Price’s responsibilities and will have overall responsibility for the trade policy portfolio. This includes taking the Trade Bill through the House of Commons and delivering a trade policy for the UK through the Trade Policy Group. See our recent video interview with Greg Hands here.

Mark Garnier, Permanent Under Secretary of State for the Department, will now cover foreign direct investments into the UK and UK investments overseas. Mark Garnier will be joining Asia House corporate members for a private briefing on his new responsibilities and the department on 18 October.

A new Lords Minister will be appointed to the Department for International Trade, with a particular focus on UK export promotion.

The department has recently seen the addition of Crawford Falconer as Second Permanent Secretary and Chief Trade Negotiation Adviser. Falconer will oversee the trade policy and negotiation agenda.
