Jeremy Browne, Special Representative for the City of London Corporation in the European Union (EU), joined Asia House corporate members and selected participants on Friday for a private briefing and roundtable discussion on the impact of Brexit and what is likely to happen next.
Topics discussed included the possibility of Scotland’s independence; whether there is likely to be second referendum on Brexit; Theresa May’s foreign policy and focus; the new Brexit unit being set up in the civil service drawing staff from the Cabinet Office, the Treasury and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office; the strategy the UK should adopt post-Brexit in negotiations regarding trade agreements with the EU and with Asia; the reaction in Europe to Brexit and ongoing concerns Europe has; and the timetable of Brexit.
Corporate members represented at the table included HSBC, Mitsui, Telstra, Harvey Nash, Rio Tinto, ABP London, DLA Piper, KPMG, Eversheds and DWF.
