Pascal Lamy, the former Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), visited Asia House on Monday (8 Oct) to brief Asia House Corporate Members on the changes taking place in the global trade order.
The discussion addressed some of the key shifts in global trade, including the drift towards ‘de-globalisation’, marked by the US-China trade war and Brexit, the role of the WTO today and the current debate around WTO reform.
Chaired by Michael Lawrence, Chief Executive of Asia House, the briefing also addressed the dangers of abandoning the WTO amid global uncertainties, given its status as the only qualified, multilateral system regulating international trade.
The briefing was organised exclusively for Asia House Corporate Members. Find out more about Corporate Membership at Asia House.
