Vietnam’s role within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was one of the issues discussed during an Asia House briefing with the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister, Pham Binh Minh, on Tuesday (9 October).
Vietnam is among the world’s fastest-growing economies, placing it at the heart of future Asian growth. Minh, who also serves as Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited Asia House as part of a two-day official visit which also saw him meet with UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt and UK Secretary for International Trade, Liam Fox.
Minh attended Asia House to brief Corporate Members on Vietnam’s economic prospects, and to engage with the private sector on key issues.
Vietnam’s relationships with its neighbours, as well as the country’s wider role within ASEAN, were both discussed. Reforms to the Vietnamese infrastructure sector were also explored.
The briefing, which was chaired by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence, was held exclusively for Asia House Corporate Members.
