    ASEAN Insights Conference

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) – comprising Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – remains one of the most diverse, dynamic and fast growing regions of the world. With a GDP of US$2.4 trillion in 2013 the combined economy is larger than that of India and one of the top 10 global economies. The member states of the Association have an ambitious blueprint for integration, divided into three distinct areas of cooperation: political-security, economics and socio-cultural. If successful, this integration will bring a population of approximately 600 million inhabitants of Southeast Asia into a cohesive grouping which will allow increased connectivity, trade, cultural and political exchange.

The ASEAN Insights conference will offer current insights into these parallel processes, economic and political, with a view to exploring the realistic prospects for progress in these areas, both in the short- and long-term, as well as the implications for European businesses seeking to trade and invest in the region. Experts, business leaders and policymakers will comment on the potential of ASEAN to initiate enhanced economic integration and cooperation, and the implications for Western businesses looking to make gains from the fast growing markets in Asia. Speakers will also offer a political overview of the region and how ASEAN can act as a broad platform for stability.
