Breakfast Briefing on India
A year on from Narendra Modi’s election as Prime Minister HSBC India Chair and HSBC Asia Pacific Director, Naina Lal Kidwai and the Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Ranjan Mathai will brief Asia House corporate members on the progress on Modi’s reform programme and the broader economic outlook for India. This will be followed by a private discussion.
Prior to joining HSBC in 2002 Naina Lal Kidwai spent time at ANZ Grindlays, Morgan Stanley, and Bank of India. She is a former President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and currently serves as non-executive director on the board of Nestle SA, and Chairwoman of the City of London’s Advisory Council for India.
Ranjan Mathai joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1974. He has held positions in the Indian Missions in Vienna, Tehran and Brussels. He served as the Deputy High Commissioner of India in London from 2005 to 2007. Mr Mathai has served as the Ambassador of India in Israel, Qatar and France. He was Foreign Secretary of India from August 2011 to July 2013.
