Briefing with new Indian High Commissioner to the UK
The newly-appointed High Commissioner of India to the UK H.E. Mr Navtej Sarna will join Asia House corporate members for a private briefing on the current economic and political developments in India.
With GDP growth expectations of 7.5 per cent for 2016-2017, India’s growth recovery reflects improved economic management. Increases in public infrastructure investment as well as government initiatives help to boost the economy. The challenge, however, is to sustain the momentum. India needs to create jobs for the 12 million Indians who enter India’s workforce each year.
Mr. Sarna will brief Asia House corporate members on the current developments and give an outlook on further reforms and their implementation.
Before taking the post as Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Mr Navtej Sarna was Secretary (West) at the Ministry of External Affairs of India; Indian Ambassador to the State of Israel; and Minister/Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Washington. He has also served as a diplomat in Moscow, Warsaw, Thimphu, Geneva and Tehran.
This event is open to Asia House corporate members only.
