Briefing with British High Commissioner to India

In a private briefing with Asia House corporate members, High Commissioner of India to the UK H.E. Mr Navtej Sarna said “India is a bright spot in a rather gloomy landscape”.

India’s economy is forecast by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to grow 7.4 per cent in 2016 and by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to grow at 7.5 per cent. The IMF’s latest Regional Economic Outlook for Asia and the Pacific describes India as the “fastest-growing large economy in the world.”

Sir Dominic Asquith KCMG, British High Commissioner to the Republic of India, will brief Asia House corporate members about India’s economic reforms, opportunities and challenges for businesses and current political developments.

Sir Asquith joined the Diplomatic Service in 1983 and served in Damascus, Muscat, Washington, D.C., Buenos Aires and Riyadh before being appointed Deputy Head of Mission in Iraq in 2004, Director of the Iraq Directorate at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office 2004–06 and Ambassador to Iraq 2006–7. He was Ambassador to Egypt 2007–11 and Ambassador to Libya 2011–12.

This event is open to Asia House corporate members only.
