China’s economic outlook in the changing global trade order
Little has been said of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort earlier in April. Nonetheless, there is a clear distinction between Trump’s attitude pre- and post- visit; the former on the border of placing protectionist measures on China and the latter boasting ‘a very, very great relationship’. With potentially millions of US jobs on the line, Trump’s unclear rhetoric does not bode well for a global economy that is already lacking in certainty.
