Asia House appoints Phyllis Papadavid to lead Research and Advisory service

    Published On: 22 March 2021

Asia House has appointed top economist Phyllis Papadavid as Head of Research and Advisory as it builds on its rapidly-growing consultancy offering.

Papadavid, currently Research Associate at the Overseas Development Institute and associate faculty in Analytics and Strategy at Columbia University, will bring extensive industry experience to Asia House. She has previously held leadership roles at BNP Paribas and Societe Generale CIB, and has advised the Government of Mongolia.

The international economist and financial strategist will lead Asia House’s Research and Advisory practice, directing the organisation’s research and consultancy work and managing projects for Asia House clients, which include blue chip multinationals across a range of sectors.

The appointment comes amid rising interest in Asian markets as the world’s economic balance shifts to the Asia-Pacific, as reflected in the UK’s new Integrated Review. Asia House, as the leading institution driving engagement with Asia, is playing a key role in strengthening commercial links with the region.

Michael Lawrence, Chief Executive of Asia House, said: “We’re delighted to secure a professional of Phyllis’s calibre to take our Research and Advisory function to the next level. Since launching the advisory service in 2018, we have delivered high-profile work for clients in markets around the world, from Japan to the UAE.

“As the UK’s Integrated Review makes clear, the need to understand Asia and the dynamics shaping the region is becoming increasingly crucial for businesses and policymakers. As an independent think tank, we are committed to producing trusted research that informs business decisions and drives engagement between Asia, the Middle East and Europe, and Phyllis is the perfect person to lead our activities in this space.”

Papadavid, who will join the London-based think tank in April, said: “Having followed Asia House’s important work for many years, I am delighted to be joining such a prestigious institution at an exciting time for Asian trade and investment.

“With the world increasingly looking to Asia as a powerhouse of global economic growth, there are tremendous commercial opportunities emerging in the region, and I’m looking forward to helping Asia House clients achieve success in Asia and beyond.”
