ASEAN’s growth prospects and the progress being made towards economic integration were among the issues discussed during an Asia House briefing with Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary General, ASEAN Economic Community, today (21 July).
Speaking with Asia House Corporate Members, the DSG assessed the impact of COVID-19 in Southeast Asia and outlined projections for the region’s growth. Corporate Members dialled in from around the world to join the conversation, with the DSG taking a range of questions on issues including capital market development; the decarbonisation agenda in ASEAN; and the role of the WTO in regional trade. The speed of economic integration within ASEAN and efforts to increase it were also discussed.
