Xiang Bing assesses China’s economic prospects amid US tensions

    Published On: 26 July 2021

The trends driving the Chinese economy and the likely trajectory of US-China relations were discussed during an Asia House briefing today (26 July) with Dr Xiang Bing, Founding Dean and Professor of China Business and Globalization at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB).

Dr Xiang – a leading authority on China’s business environment – shared his observations on the Chinese and US economies, and how he sees relations between the two powers playing out. He also shared his views on the rule-of-law, and its role in the future of world trade.

Asia House Corporate Members joined the discussion from around the world, with Dr Xiang taking a wide range of questions. He was asked about domestic economic change in China; the Chinese government’s approach to big tech regulation; and the role of China’s newly established carbon market.

China’s role in the Middle East and the future of the Belt and Road Initiative were also discussed during the off-the-record briefing, chaired by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence.

The briefing was convened exclusively for Asia House Corporate Members. FIND OUT MORE about Corporate Membership at Asia House
