Perry Warjiyo provides update on Indonesia’s economic outlook

    Published On: 8 March 2022

The trajectory of Indonesia’s monetary policy and the country’s broader economic outlook were the focus of an Asia House briefing with Bank Indonesia Governor, Perry Warjiyo, on 8 March.

Speaking with Asia House Corporate Members, Governor Warjiyo shared the central bank’s plans for economic growth, and how it aims to meet the challenge of climate change and boost digitalisation – areas highlighted as priorities for Indonesia in the Asia House Annual Outlook 2022.

The briefing provided Asia House Corporate Members with unique insights into Indonesia’s economic prospects as it hosts the G20 this year, with Governor Warjiyo taking a range of questions.

He was asked about the economic shock of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and how this is affecting Indonesia’s economic forecasts; Bank Indonesia’s position on central bank digital currencies; and the current COVID-19 situation in the country.

Indonesia’s climate strategy – including green finance and carbon trading – were also discussed in the off-the-record briefing, moderated by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence.
