The outlook for India’s economy amid a challenging global environment were central to an Asia House briefing with Dr V Anantha Nageswaran, Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India.

Speaking from New Delhi, Dr Nageswaran gave an overview of India’s economic performance, and outlined initiatives being taken to bolster resilience and encourage investment in the country.

Asia House Corporate Members dialled in from around the world to join the discussion, with Dr Nageswaran taking a range of questions.

He was asked about India’s resilience to climate change and its masterplan for infrastructure development; the country’s preparedness for future health crises; and India’s pitch for attracting foreign investment. India-China relations and US President Biden’s ‘Indo-Pacific Economic Framework’ were also discussed, as were the prospects of a UK free trade agreement with India.

Chaired by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence, the briefing provided a unique opportunity for Corporate Members to engage with a key figure shaping policy in the world’s fastest-growing economy.
