Nusrat Ghani MP, Minister of State at the UK Department for Business and Trade, Minister of State for the Investment Security Unit, and Minister for Industry and Economic Security at the Cabinet Office

Nusrat Ghani MP, Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade, will brief Asia House Corporate Members on the UK government’s critical minerals and global supply chain strategy, at an off-the-record in-person briefing on Tuesday 19 March at Asia House in London.

Minister Ghani’s briefing comes as conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East and attacks in the Red Sea threaten stable supply chains. Minister Ghani will brief corporate members on the UK government’s plans to navigate these geopolitical challenges and boost supply chain resilience through its recently released Critical Imports and Supply Chains Strategy.

Asia continues to be of key strategic importance to the UK’s supply chains. Minister Ghani will touch on the role of countries like Mongolia, and UK trade deals in the region such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), in building supply chain resilience.

As well as discussing national strategies related to batteries and semiconductors, Minister Ghani will also reflect on issues related to inbound investment, the National Security and Investment Act and its impact on outbound investment. Minister Ghani will also share her perspective on the sustained viability of the UK’s supply chains strategy, ahead of the upcoming UK General Election expected later this year.

Previously Minister of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport, Minister Ghani is also a member of the BEIS Select Committee.

The briefing will be held exclusively for Asia House Corporate Members and moderated by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence OBE. To register interest, please email Thomas Scott-Bell, Programme Producer: thomas.scott-bell@asiahouse.co.uk
