Joanna Octavia is the Head of Programming at Asia House, working with the Business and Policy team to develop and execute the Asia House programme and bring together key stakeholders across government, politics, and business. She is currently completing a PhD in Employment Research at the Warwick Institute for Employment Research, focusing on the role of social media in the organisation and mobilisation of workers in the platform economy. Before starting her PhD, Joanna had worked in a broad range of sectors including technology, transportation, financial services, and research/non-profit. She was a Senior Public Policy Associate at Uber, where she led cross-functional teams to establish and strengthen the company’s profile among policymakers; a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Public Policy Transformation in Jakarta; and an Analyst at Bloomberg in Singapore.
