Shriti Vadera, Chairman of Santander UK, will brief Asia House corporate members on the future of financial services in the City post-Brexit.

The first woman to chair a major British bank, Vadera began her career as an investment banker at S. G. Warburg & Co, which later became UBS with a specific focus on emerging markets. Vadera went on to spend eight years on the Council of Economic Advisers at HM Treasury, becoming a government minister in the Cabinet Office and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills in 2007.

Vadera has also been a G20 advisor and has guided governments, bank and investors on the Eurozone crisis, banking sector, debt restructuring and markets. Vadera is credited with being one of the most important figures in helping to save UK banks following the collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2008.

Since the EU Referendum in June 2016, Vadera has been chair of the European Financial Services Chairmen’s Advisory Committee (EFSCAC). EFSCAC is a small group of 15 Chairman and CEO’s from across the financial services industry set up to act as a senior sounding board for Ministers during the EU exit negotiations.

This briefing is for Asia House corporate members only. To register, please contact Conor Paterson in the Business & Policy Team at conor.paterson@asiahouse.co.uk or call 0207 307 5439.

This event is taking place as part of the Asia House Brexit Series, which encompasses a number of seminars and private briefings examining the implications of Brexit.
