Hamish Falconer MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan), will brief Asia House Corporate Members on the UK’s Middle East strategy at an off-the-record, in-person event on Wednesday 29 January.
Speaking at Asia House, Minister Falconer will outline the UK’s approach to the Middle East amid escalating tensions stemming from the prolonged Israel-Palestine conflict and the recent regime change in Syria.
The Labour government has prioritised economic growth, and Minister Falconer is likely to provide insights into the UK’s economic relations with GCC countries. He is also expected to reflect on Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s recent visit to the region, which included high-profile meetings in Saudi Arabia.
As the government approaches its first six months in office, Minister Falconer will also be asked to share updates on its progress at navigating a complex political landscape.
The briefing will be held exclusively for Asia House Corporate Members and moderated by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence OBE.
