Asia House Middle East Programme: Simon Collis, British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia
Simon Collis CMG, British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, is back in the UK for Leadership Week and will join Asia House corporate members for a lunchtime briefing as part of the Asia House Middle East Programme. Simon will share his insights on Saudi Arabia’s ambitious “Vision 2030” programme and its moves to diversify the economy away from oil, as well as UK-Saudi relations, including the visit by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s to the UK in March this year.
Simon joined the FCO in 1978 and after studying Arabic has served mainly in the Middle East and South Asia. His first posting was to Bahrain. He has been British Ambassador to Iraq, Syria and Qatar, as well as British Consul-General in Dubai and in Basra. He has also served in Tunis, New Delhi and Amman.
