Asia House Middle East Programme: UK Middle East Minister to brief corporate members

The Rt Hon Alistair Burt MP, the UK Minister for the Middle East, will visit Asia House on Thursday 1 March to give a private briefing to corporate members.

The exclusive briefing is the first in a new series of Asia House events focusing on the Middle East. The Asia House Middle East Programme will look at the region’s role within Asia, and its connections with the developed economies in the West.

The Minister’s briefing – in which he will share his unique insights on the latest political and economic developments in the region – will officially launch the Middle East Programme.

Alistair Burt, the MP for North East Bedfordshire, was appointed Minister of State for the Department for International Development and Minister of State for Middle East at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in June 2017.

His current brief covers the geographies of the Middle East and North Africa, and the specific issues of trade, security and estates.

Alistair is a former Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, during which time he was responsible for British policy on Syria and represented the UK at the United Nations on issues relating to Israel. He also shaped UK policy on Afghanistan and South Asia, counter terrorism, and counter proliferation.

This event is aimed at providing unique, informed and exclusive insights to Asia House corporate members. To register interest, or for more information about corporate membership, please contact Aini Abdullah, Business and Policy Programme Assistant: aini.abdullah@asiahouse.co.uk
