Breakfast Briefing – Thailand Outlook
Thailand is at a crossroads. Nearly a year after the military took control of the government, a new 130-page draft constitution has been submitted to an advisory council for review prompting mixed reactions. Political uncertainty, coupled with weakening private investment and lower demand for exports, appears to be hampering the country’s growth outlook. Also, after a reign of 68 years the King’s poor health has brought succession issues to the fore. Mark Kent, British Ambassador to Thailand will brief Asia House Corporate Members on recent developments and the prospects for stability and economic growth.
Mark Kent took up his appointment in August 2012. He joined the FCO in 1987 and has spent most of his career working with the emerging powers of South East Asia and Latin America, and with the European Union.
This event is open to Asia House corporate members only.
