Brian Davidson, UK Consul General to Hong Kong and Macao
Brian Davidson, UK Consul General to Hong Kong and Non-Resident Consul General to Macao, will share his insights on Hong Kong’s economic outlook during an in-person briefing convened exclusively for Asia House Corporate Members on 26 October.
Speaking just days after the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (which opens on 16 October), the Consul General will share his thoughts on the Congress and what its outcomes could mean for Hong Kong’s relationship with mainland China. He will also assess Hong Kong’s policy direction under new Chief Executive John Lee.
The briefing takes place at a key moment for Hong Kong, with the easing of travel restrictions – including the scrapping of hotel quarantines – offering a potential economic boost, and investment opportunities arising through initiatives such as the Greater Bay Area.
The Consul General will also discuss broader UK-China relations following the Conservative Party conference in October, which will provide an indication of China policy under Prime Minister Truss’s government.
This briefing is held for Asia House Corporate Members and moderated by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence. To register interest, please email Edward Danks, Programme Associate: edward.danks@asiahouse.co.uk
