Ceferino S. Rodolfo, Undersecretary at the Department of Trade and Industry, the Philippines
Ceferino S. Rodolfo, Undersecretary for the Industry Development and Promotions Group (IPG) at the Department of Trade and Industry, the Philippines, will brief Asia House on the Philippines’ trade and investment policy in an off-the-record, in-person briefing on Thursday, 16 May at Asia House in London.
Undersecretary Rodolfo heads to Asia House following his visit to Washington DC in April where he played an active role in the unprecedented trilateral summit between the US, the Philippines and Japan.
The Undersecretary will provide updates on the historic summit, in which the three countries agreed to greater economic, trade and security cooperation on the back of rising geopolitical tensions in the South China Sea.
As the world’s second largest producer of nickel, the Philippines’ role in critical mineral supply chains continues to grow. Undersecretary Rodolfo will share insights on the investment opportunities in this sector as well as on the government’s plans to further develop downstreaming in its mineral industry, which was analysed in Asia House’s latest research on critical mineral supply chains.
The Philippines’ push to become a centre for high tech manufacturing, including in electric vehicles and semiconductors, will also be discussed.
Undersecretary Rodolfo oversees the IPG, which is responsible for trade and industry policy formulation and implementation of the Manufacturing Resurgence Program.
The briefing will be moderated by Asia House Director of Corporate Affairs, Charlie Humphreys. For more information about this briefing, please contact business.policy@asiahouse.co.uk.
