Chinese Ambassador to the UK, HE Liu Xiaoming, and Lord Green, Chairman of Asia House
China’s Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Liu Xiaoming, will join Asia House Chairman Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint in a live online conversation on April 23 as part of Asia House’s series of digital events on the global response to the COVID-19 crisis.
After the implementation of tough measures to combat the virus, activity in China is gradually resuming. With global growth forecasts having been significantly lowered and the WTO expecting global trade to fall by up to 32 per cent in 2020, navigating the economic fallout of COVID-19 remains a challenge for all governments. Many commentators are now looking to China to see how it emerges from the crisis, asking whether it will lead the world out of what is likely to be a deep global recession.
In this live online discussion, Ambassador Liu and Lord Green will discuss the global response to the coronavirus pandemic and consider the shape of the world when it emerges from the crisis. They will also explore the responses by China and the UK and what they may mean for bilateral relations. Participants will have the opportunity to join in the discussion in an interactive Q&A session.
This is an exclusive Asia House event and is by invitation only. To register interest in attending, please contact Lara Groves at lara.groves@asiahouse.co.uk
