Driving commercial and political engagement between Asia, the Middle East and Europe
Recently appointed as His Majesty’s Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor-Leste, Dominic Jermey CVO, OBE will speak with Asia House Corporate Members in an off-the-record, in-person briefing on UK-Indonesia relations and Indonesia’s role as a driving force within the ASEAN bloc and the wider Indo-Pacific region. This briefing is a unique and exclusive opportunity for members to engage with Ambassador Jermey before he takes up the post.
As the UK strengthens its economic ties with Indonesia, Ambassador Jermey will update members on the UK’s trade initiatives, the accomplishments of the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO), and the progress of the UK-Indonesia Partnership Roadmap 2022 to 2024. Drawing on his prior experience as the former Managing Director and Chief Executive of UK Trade and Investment, Ambassador Jermey will share his outlook on engagement between the two countries in areas such as digital trade and renewable energy.
During the briefing, Ambassador Jermey will share his insights from Indonesia’s ASEAN chairmanship in 2023, and address Indonesia’s pivotal role in fostering regional integration within the economic bloc and the wider Indo-Pacific region. Ambassador Jermey will explore how ASEAN centrality influences the UK’s own tilt to the Indo-Pacific, based on the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific championed by Indonesia.
