Dr Ma Jun, Director of the Macro and Green Finance Lab at Peking University’s National School of Development, and the Founder and President of the Institute of Finance and Sustainability
Dr Ma Jun, Director of the Macro and Green Finance Lab at Peking University’s National School of Development and Founder and President of the Institute of Finance and Sustainability, will brief Asia House Corporate Members at an off-the-record Asia House digital briefing on Tuesday 22 October.
Speaking from Beijing, Dr Ma will share current details of China’s efforts to promote green finance and sustainable development and provide insights on the updated guidelines for the “comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development” recently issued by the Party Central Committee and the State Council in August 2024. This is a unique opportunity to join an engaging discussion with one of China’s most influential figures in the field of sustainable finance.
Dr Ma is considered a progressive figure in China’s green finance sector, having been instrumental in developing the country’s green bond market, now one of the largest globally. Dr Ma will also discuss the challenges international investors face in accessing China’s green finance markets alongside future prospects. In addition, Dr Ma will explore China’s ambitions to emerge as a global climate leader, focusing on the Belt and Road Initiative. As the Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of the Green Investment Principles under this initiative, he will also discuss other official programmes contributing to this goal. With COP29 on the horizon, the discussion will also examine opportunities to enhance China’s international cooperation on climate policy, particularly with the UK and the US.
The digital briefing will be held exclusively for Asia House Corporate Members and moderated by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence OBE.
