The future of Artificial Intelligence in China

China’s role in driving artificial intelligence (AI) will be the focus of a speech and Q&A from Dr Kai-Fu Lee, one of the world’s leading thinkers in AI, at Asia House on 19 January.

Dr Lee is Chairman and CEO of Sinovation Ventures – a leading technology investment firm focusing on developing the next generation of Chinese high-tech companies. It manages a US$1.8 billion dual currency investment fund. He is also President of Sinovation Ventures Artificial Intelligence Institute, and a former Vice President of Google, former President of Google China, and has held executive positions at Microsoft, SGI, and Apple.

The Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, will also be speaking at the event. He recently spoke at Asia House about the future of digital.

China is rapidly establishing itself as a global powerhouse for AI technologies, with the government announcing a new US$2 billion research park in West Beijing earlier this month. The park will aim to realise China’s ambition of being the global leader in AI by 2025.

Dr. Lee has authored ten US patents, and over one hundred journal and conference papers, and is the author of seven top-selling books in Chinese. He has more than 50 million followers on social media.

The speech and Q&A will be followed by a networking lunch.

Places are extremely limited. To register interest in attending, please contact Aini Abdullah, Business and Policy Programme Assistant, at aini.abdullah@asiahouse.co.uk

Asia House will also be live streaming this event on our Facebook and YouTube channels.
