Geopolitics and trade: adapting to a new reality
In partnership with the McKinsey Global Institute, Asia House will hold a roundtable discussion on the growing convergence of geopolitics and global trade.
Global trade is reconfiguring, triggered in part by geopolitical tensions and global conflicts. Despite record levels of interconnectedness in the global economy, the geometry of global trade, as explored in the McKinsey Global Institute’s latest research, is changing and is creating various potential trade-offs for businesses.
This in person roundtable will convene senior business executives and trade experts to explore strategies for navigating current challenges, particularly in the context of major global shifts, such as the transition to low-carbon economies and the rapid digitalisation of societies.
Jeongmin Seong, Partner at the McKinsey Global Institute, will share his insights on global trade. Seong leads the McKinsey Global Institute’s research teams from Shanghai, producing research on global, Asia and China-focused themes related to trade.
The discussion will also examine Asia’s growing influence in global trade recalibration, the derisking of supply chains, and the potential impact of upcoming elections on geopolitical tensions. This roundtable aims to facilitate knowledge sharing and build consensus on best practices for addressing these significant changes.
This off-the-record roundtable will be moderated by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence OBE. For more information, please contact Thomas Scott-Bell, Programme Producer: thomas.scott-bell@asiahouse.co.uk
