Greg Hands, UK Minister of State for Trade Policy
With the Brexit transition period nearing its end, Greg Hands, Minister of State for Trade Policy, UK Government, will brief Asia House Corporate Members on the UK’s ‘Global Britain’ ambitions and its trade strategy for Asia.
Hands, who was appointed in February 2020 and previously served as Minister of State in the Department for International Trade, will discuss a range of issues, including the UK-Japan FTA, the prospect of Britain joining the CPTPP, and UK engagement with ASEAN.
The Minister will also offer the latest insights on negotiations with the EU, and how the outcome of these talks will affect the UK’s future efforts in striking deals with trading partners around the world.
Hands will also discuss how the UK will use trade policy as a tool to strengthen economic relationships with countries in Asia and beyond, and the UK’s future role as an independent member of the WTO.
