CANCELLED: The Honourable Dato’ Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia
PLEASE NOTE: Due to a change in the Deputy PM’s schedule, this event has been cancelled.
Dr Wan Azizah, Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister, will join Asia House Corporate Members for a private, off the record briefing on Friday 7 December.
Dr Wan Azizah has been in post since May and holds a second portfolio as the minister of women, family and community development in the new administration, formed after the Pakatan Harapan (PH)’s stunning election victory over the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition. Following the arrest of her husband Anwar Ibrahim, the former opposition leader, in 1998, Dr Wan Azizah went on to establish the People’s Justice Party (PKR), of which she remains the outgoing President.
The first woman to serve as second-in-command in Malaysia’s government, Dr Wan Aziz is President of the PH coalition, and played a significant role in holding the disparate parties together with official duties during Anwar’s absence.
During this briefing, Dr Wan Azizah will speak on ‘Sustainable Economy and Social Entrepreneurship – How Women Can Play Bigger Roles in Economic Development in Future’.
This briefing is for Asia House Corporate Members only. To register, please contact Aini Abdullah in the Business & Policy Team at aini.abdullah@asiahouse.co.uk
